浙江省丽水市莲都区人民法院21日公开开庭审理一起因利用腾讯qq网络相约自杀导致民事赔偿纠纷的新类型民事案件。

　　因儿子通过qq参与相约自杀活动身亡，其父母将qq服务运营商——深圳市腾讯计算机系统有限公司告上了法庭。qq是国内最普及的一种即时通讯工具。

　　上文中的suicide pact就是“相约自杀”，pact指“协定，条约”等，多为written agreement(书面约定)，conclude/make a pact on something就表示“就某事达成约定”，例如：they made a pact not to tell anyone. (他们说好绝不告诉任何人。)

　　internet service provider(网络服务提供商)到底要对用户担负什么样的liability or accountability(责任)是这次庭审引发的一个热议话题，原告认为腾讯公司fail to exercise effective control over the use of harmful words(对有害信息监管不力)，而腾讯公司则表示screen instant message(屏蔽即时信息)是侵犯了用户的言论自由。
